Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel

The prayer to Saint Michael refers, in common usage, to a Catholic prayer that appeared in 1886. It asks for the help of the Archangel Michael as leader of the heavenly militia in the fight of souls against Satan and other demons.

“Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;

be our help against the malice and snares of the devil.

May God make him feel his empire, we beg you.

And you, prince of the heavenly militia, push back into hell, by divine force,

Satan and other evil spirits who roam the world with the aim of destroying souls.

Amen."
