PADRE PIO PRAYER GROUPS
The Padre Pio Prayer group meets at the Port Church - Place Ile de Beauté in Nice
THE ORIGIN OF PADRE PIO PRAYER GROUPS
The Prayer Groups are fruits of the ministry of Padre Pio; he recommended praying. The groups meet regularly to pray together, participate in mass and meditate on the Scriptures.
At the outbreak of the Second World War, Pope Pius XII asked people to pray for peace, for unity and for the salvation of the world.
Padre Pio made the Holy Father's desire come true, calling to his side his spiritual sons and all the faithful who flocked to San Giovanni Rotondo every day. Many small groups were formed: periodically they met to pray according to the intentions of Padre Pio.
He asked priests to take on the role of spiritual guides of prayer groups to ensure a connection with the church. This example will then be followed in many Italian and European cities.
The Prayer Groups were coordinated and quickly managed by regulations guiding and instructing them according to the precepts of Padre Pio.
Nowadays, La “Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza” directs and assists the prayer groups currently present throughout the world.
